Pudong New District of Shanghai recently announced plans to hire overseas Chinese as civil servants, aiming to deal with a shortage of international talented personnel and improve its service.

The district will launch a series of job fairs in foreign cities such as Los Angeles in US.

The recruitment focuses on candidates with majors in economics, finance, international trade, public management, law, accounting, human resources and others, aiming to better serve the free trade zone in the district and move closer to Shanghai's goal of becoming a global scientific and technological innovation center.

A total of 11 positions are available at the district's Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone, Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, Lingang area, and other areas. Some positions require a minimum of three years related work experience abroad, while some even require five or ten years. People who pass all the tests for the positions will be employed under contract.
