Yantai has long been famed for its favorable regional advantages, long history, rich cultural resources and natural beauty, winning countless national and international awards and titles such as a UN Habitat Scroll of Honor Award 2005, being named one of China's most beautiful and characteristic tourist destinations in 2016 and China's Gold Medal City for Investment Environment 2006 as evaluated by the World Bank, and China's Excellent City for Leisure and National Civilized City (four times in a row).

Xu added that Yantai has emphasized promotion of its city image in recent years. The government has set up a working group to expand its presence at home and abroad.

Officials from different Yantai government departments also presented regional features from the viewpoint of agriculture, tourism, investment and living environment.

A photo exhibition featuring Yantai's scenic coastline, wine industry, unique culture and county presence was also mounted to better present an overall image of the city.
