Wedding cultural festival kicks off in Lijiang

The first China Lijiang Wedding Cultural Festival 2013 kicked off in Lijiang Government Square on March 19.

The festival aims at promoting national wedding customs and wedding culture.

About 150 people from different provinces working in the wedding industry attended the festival, including Zong Shaoshan, director of the China Wedding Culture Society.

The launch of the first China Lijiang Wedding Cultural Festival will encourage the development of Chinese wedding customs. Experiencing fast development, the wedding business boasts great potential. The festival will contribute to the development of traditional culture.

The festival will promote the establishment of a strategic alliance between the wedding business in Lijiang and other places in China and expand Lijiang's influence in the national wedding economy and culture.

The unique geographic and tourism resources in Lijiang will help establish the Shangri-La wedding tourism base. The wedding strategic alliance will develop a Lijiang – Shangri-La – Tibet tourism route that will be a new economic growth point in the wedding tourism industry.

Chinese scholars in the wedding culture field gathered in Yunwu Hotel to attend the Forum on the Inheritance and Development of Chinese Traditional Wedding Culture on March 20. Speeches on various wedding customs of different ethnic groups brought more cultural meaning to the festival.
