Lijiang hosted the China Institute of Interior Design (CIID) Annual Conference this year on November, 8-11, with various agendas including resorts design and public lectures. Hundreds of designers, local cultural celebrities and architects attended.
Delegates learned about Lijiang local culture. On Nov 9, more than 70 delegates joined the Dongba Literature Gathering, which has a history of over 300 years. The event represented essence manifestation, along with ancient architecture, costumes and folk songs and dances.
Delegates described the event as profound. They said they felt enlightened, which provides excellent raw materials for interior design and decoration ideas.
Lin Changwu, director of CIID from Hainan University, said, he admired Dongba literature for a long time, and was more intrigued while attending the conference.
Dongba culture, especially its characters are similar to carapace-bone-script, which record primitive beauty, and art elements that represented its local literature to bring about influence over China’s interior designs.
