Lijiang Old Town tourists soar in 'Golden Week'

The Old Town of Lijiang was popular during the National Day holiday. Starred hotels were overbooked, featured lodges were 90 percent booked and tourists’ check-in peak was around Oct 2-5. The traffic department deployed more police to maintain traffic in the old town area to ensure smooth traffic.

The region’s capacity for receiving tourists has expanded in recent years, with 184 star-rated hotels and 1,800 inns, lodges and guesthouses, 10,000 employees in local tourism industry and daily reception capacity of 80,000 tourists. The Old Town of Shuhe, Black Dragon Pool Park, Guanyinxia are listed as 4A scenic spots and the Old Town of Lijiang is listed as a 5A scenic spot.
