Museum association gathers in Lijiang to promote cooperation

The second annual meeting of the Southwest China Museum Association was held in Lijiang, Yunnan province from Sept 6 to 8. Sponsored by the Yunnan Provincial Museum and Lijiang Municipal Museum, representatives from 28 museums in Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Tibet and Guangxi attended the meeting.

To strengthen exchange and cooperation, the Southwest China Museum Association was established by 25 museums in six provinces in Southwest China in April 2010. The 25 member museums declared the establishment of the association at the first annual meeting held in Chongqing. During the past two years, member museums of the association have made attempts in exhibition cooperation, talent training and academic research.

Ma Wendou, director of the Yunnan Provincial Museum, said at the meeting that the association should strengthen academic research and exchange and enhance exhibition cooperation to promote positive social contributions from museums.
