On Dec 23, Interpretation on the Rise of Lijiang's Cultural Tourism, published by Yunnan People's Publishing House, was released in Kunming. The book gives a comprehensive summary of Lijiang's development.
Zhang Hongping, Party Secretary of Yunnan Provincial Federation of Social Science Circles, said that the publication of the book shows that Lijiang tourism publicity has changed its focus from highlighting the city's beautiful scenery and welcoming locals to a city engaged in theoretical research.
Interpretation on the Rise of Lijiang's Cultural Tourism offers a full interpretation of the origin and development, experience and practices of Lijiang's cultural tourism. It also explores the universal significance of cultural tourism in its combination with the sustainable development of the economy and society.
Yang Guoqing, author of the book, was born in 1946 and has worked in the administration office of the Prefectural Party Committee, the Committee for Discipline Inspection and the People’s Congress of Lijiang. With nearly 20 years of experience as a government official, he is a witness, participant and major decision-maker in the development of Lijiang's cultural tourism.
Three years after retiring from the Standing Committee of Lijiang Municipal People's Congress, Yang studied and summarized Lijiang's development and practices in the greater context of the country and the world. He also conducted an in-depth theoretical study of Lijiang's cultural tourism use of nature as the base, culture as the soul and market as the orientation.
