The First Freight Train of Lijiang Began to Operate

At 10am on Dec 1, the first freight train of Lijiang, carrying corn seeds and ferroalloy products, pulled out of Lijiang East Railway Station, signaling the beginning of its role in passengers and goods transportation.

Lijiang East Railway Station is located five miles east of Lijiang city, occupies an area of 38.67 hectares with convenient highway traffic and offers an annual capability of 0.8 million tons in the short term and 2.5 million tons in the long term.

Since the operation of Lijiang Station on Aug 17, Lijigan East Railway Station has not been used, with passenger services transferred to Lijiang Station.

The Lijiang municipal government and railway department collected funds to improve the station’s facilities and accelerate the construction of the freight yard in order to make Lijiang East Railway Station the overland material distribution wharf center in northwest of Yunan,

In addition, the East Railway Station offers favorable freight rates, which effectively attracts the logistics industry to Lijiang East Railway Station.
