Northeast Pharmaceutical Group held a foundation stone laying ceremony for the second phase of its reconstruction project on June 2, 2010， in Shenyang Economic & Technological Development Area.

The project， invested RMB 5 billion, covers an area of 1.92 million square meters. Upon completion, it is expected to be the largest manufacturing base of chemical APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients) in China.

The reconstruction project began in April 2007 and was scheduled to be implemented in two phases. At the first phase, which was invested RMB 1 billion, a manufacturing base of medical preparations was completed and put into use in October 2009. There are 27 production lines in the base, whose annual output ranges from 6.6 to 12.8 billion tablets. It is the largest complex for producing medical preparations in China.

To achieve industrial upgrading (low consumption, low pollution, high yield), the Group has started the second phase of the project. After its accomplishment, the comprehensive energy consumption is expected to decrease by 25% to 30% and the average cost of products by 30%.

Northeast Pharmaceutical Group Company Limited (NEPG) is a large-scale comprehensive pharmaceutical enterprise, mainly covering pharmaceutical ingredients, bio-fermentation, traditional Chinese & western medicinal preparations and micro-ecological. Up to the end of 2009, the sales income of the Group has exceeded RMB 7.5 billion and the profit is around RMB 0.551 billion.
