Liu Yuxi, professor of the CCOM (Central Conservatory of Music) and a famous violinist, has been invited to perform at the Xiangshan concert to be held in Zhangjiagang on June 1.

Liu was born in an artistic family. His elder uncle Liu Bannong is a writer, linguist and pioneer in the New Culture Movement (around the time of the May 4th movement in 1919). His younger uncle Liu Tianhua is a musician dubbed the "Father of Modern Folk Music" in China. His father Liu Beimao is a master composer for folk music and an erhu (a two-stringed bowed musical instrument) player.

Liu discovered a talent for music early on and started to play the erhu, piano and violin at age 12. In 1962, Liu graduated from the CCOM with the best grade in performance. In the end of 1963, he played the violin in front of former state leaders Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi and Zhu De.

In the last 20 years, Liu has held over 100 solo concerts all over the world, including England, France, Germany and Italy, contributing greatly to cultural exchange between China and the world. Liu explored the original art of Chinese violin and has composed many violin concertos that gained recognition both at home and abroad.

Liu will perform several classic musical compositions including The Night, North Wind Blows and Love Greetings in the Baoli Theatre of Zhangjiagang city on June 1. Music lovers can follow the WeChat account "zjgjgc-2015" to purchase concert tickets.
