Ni Yongxiang, a mediator from the judicial office of Nanfeng Town, Zhangjiagang, attended the "2015 People of Justice" awards ceremony held in Beijing on Jan 20 and became the first Zhangjiagang grassroots mediator to ever win the honor.

Ni has worked on people's mediations for 35 years, and has successfully mediated 98 percent of all the 12,600 dispute cases he has been involved in.

To promote the happy family life of local residents, Ni dedicated himself to saving broken families that result from marriage or family conflicts, with 560 families successfully mediated. And so fittingly, local residents call him "professional marriage mediator".

The annually held "People of Justice" awards was launched by Justice Net (www.jcrb.com) and supported by several mainstream media outlets including Xinhua and people.com.cn. The project, with the slogan "Demonstrate the Power of Justice", aims to honor model people from all walks of life who dedicate themselves to safeguarding people's democratic and legitimate rights, people's interests, and social fairness and justice.
