Blooming in Zhangjiagang, a performance tour and art project serving ordinary people, was awarded as a demonstration project of 2013 art volunteer grass roots service year by the Ministry of Culture.

Zhangjiagang set up the first culture volunteer association in Jiangsu province this year and started qualification training for volunteers.

Ten events focusing on five themes were carried out in the city this year. Blooming in Zhangjiagang was one of the 10. Volunteers and performers have gone to villages, communities, schools and enterprises to serve the people.

In 2013, more than 60 performances were staged with nearly 60,000 people attending.

The city has recruited culture volunteers, managing professional performers in groups according to workplace.
