I. Location

Covering an area of 23 square kilometers, Wuxi (Taihu) International Science Park reaches Gaolang Road in the north, Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in the east, Huayi Road in the west and Waitai Lake in the south. The park is 3 km away from Sunan International Airport; is close to Wuxi New District in the east and the core area of Taihu New City in the west; and connects to the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, Circum-Taihu Lake Expressway, National Highway 312, Beijing-Shanghai Railway and Shanghai-Nanjing Interurban Railway.

II. Positioning

As approved by the State Council, Wuxi (Taihu) International Science Park is an important part of the Wuxi National High and New Tech Development Zone. It is a key carrier and landmark project for establishing the innovation-oriented Wuxi city. It is also a new international lakeside scientific city based on science and technology, R&D and originality. It is supported by the high and new technology industry as well as matched with ecofallow and commercial services.

III. Planning

As per the requirements for "Innovating the Development Mode and Establishing the Innovation-Oriented City," the park aims at internationalization and innovation as well as emphasizes technical research and development and application. It also optimizes entrepreneurial and innovative environment and resource allocation so that the park can become an R&D park with highly integrated original innovation, inherited innovation and independent innovation. Also, it is an industrial base forming the high-technology industry in the world and improving the international image of the city.

In addition, it is the key part of the "Five Centers" and "Five Famous Cities" in Wuxi. The park includes Wuxi National University Science Park, Jiangsu Software Outsourcing Industrial Park, Independent High-Tech R&D Park, and International Science & Business Center. The Wuxi (Taihu) International Science Park will offer new opportunities for new undertakings in the Wuxi High-Tech Zone. Its construction will create a place for major high-tech projects and famous R&D organizations to incubate. Thus, it could accelerate the change of our economic growth model as well as the harmonious integration of the city industry and environment so as to further improve the function, image and characteristics of the city.

IV. Main parks

(1) Wuxi National University Science Park Based on the National University Science Park of Jiangnan University, Wuxi National University Science Park mainly cooperates with Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Tongji University and Southeast University. It promotes technical research and development and high-level education. It specializes in high-tech R&D industries and research-based education such as integrated circuit design, software, automotive electronics and bioscience. So far, Southeast University Wuxi Branch Campus & Research Institute and Jiangnan University Science Park have been established.

(2) Jiangsu Software Outsourcing Industrial Park

The Jiangsu Software Outsourcing Industrial Park gives priority to software R&D, application software development and software outsourcing. A public platform for software service and the China Telecom international data center will also be built. It will become an important international pilot base for the software industry nationwide and the key growth pole for the software industry in Wuxi.

(3) Independent High-Tech R&D Park and International Science & Business Center

Making R&D a priority, the Independent High-Tech R&D Park will incubate a batch of third party R&D organizations and enterprises specializing in original technical products in order to establish a new R&D industry to attract famous enterprises from both home and abroad to set up application-oriented R&D organizations. Meanwhile, the large enterprises in Wuxi have been guided to set up R&D centers at the park. Enterprises outside Wuxi have been encouraged to establish new R&D organizations to boost the large enterprise base construction in Wuxi.

(4) International Science & Business Center The International Science & Business Center fully reflects the harmonious mixture of environment and function and integrates culture, modern business and government affairs in order to be both an administrative center and civic center for the new district in the future.

V. Humanity, ecology and relaxation

Taihu Wetland

The concept of an eco-technological business district (EBD) has been fully introduced in the construction of Taihu Wetland. The eco-resources and cultural deposits along Taihu Lake are being sufficiently used. The "Pearl of Taihu" Theme Park enjoys distinguishing features of regions south of the Yangtze River. Meanwhile, the environmental landscape around the lake area will also be considered during the process of developing Taihu Wetland.

Jinghu Lake Leisure area The architectural structure fully reflects the mixture of modern style and regional culture. Here, "Water Alley" and "Court" are emphasized, so that the supporting service area for the high-end group in scientific research and creation can be made available.
