The name refers to the residence of Qian Mu and Qian Weichang, in the village of Hongsheng Qifangqiao, where Qian Mu was born. Qian Weichang is the father of modern mechanics, who Qian Mu, his uncle, gave the name "Weichang". The area represents Yizhuang culture in South China, because it was where the elders name of the Qian clan discussed disaster relief, resolving disputes, and infrastructure. A remnant of this is the Huaihai Yizhuang, a traditional folk charity in South China, founded in the late Ming (1368-1644) and early Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. The residence is a classical South China structure for Qian Mu's family, covering 5,400 square meters, with a floor space of 2,700 square meters.
