The Wuxi National Hi-tech District (WND) hosted a launch ceremony in the 530 Incubation Building on July 4 to officially set up its intelligent manufacturing experts group, bringing in a team of professors from the Julius Maximilian University (JMU) of Würzburg in Bavaria, Germany.

Lin Enxue, training director of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, presented a letter of appointment to Prof. Dr. Klaus Schilling from JMU and six others, who will work in the intelligent manufacturing experts group to help carry forward regional industrial development.

While the country is seeking to establish specialized groups in fields of software, integrated circuits, industrial robots, 3-D printing, big data and biological medicine, the intelligent manufacturing experts group is Wuxi’s first. More groups and forums are planned at a later date to push forward the city’s industrial development.

Klaus has a great depth of experience in project R&D and has previously cooperated with local enterprises in robot manufacturing. He will lead the experts group in the future to foster young talents and introduce advanced technology, contributing to the improvement of the country’s intelligent manufacturing industry.

The former Wuxi New District, now known as Wuxi Xinwu district or Wuxi National Hi-tech district, was founded in 1992 and underwent administrative changes in 1995, 2002 and 2005.
