First 3D printing center in Wuxi opens

The Si-park in Wuxi New District welcomed the city's first 3D printing innovation center on Nov 10, reported the local portal wxrb.com.

The 3D printing center, with an area of 15,000 square meters, is an exhibition hall as well as a "maker" space – a public service platform and incubation base for "makers", people who invent creative physical applications of technology.

It will involve 3D printing materials and equipment, and be based on cloud manufacturing technology and talent found through companies' introductions.

These objects can be of almost any shape or geometry, and are produced from a 3D printing model or other electronic data source.

3D printing systems are employed in many industries, including aerospace, architecture, automotive, defense and medical replacements.

The former Wuxi New District, now known as Wuxi Xinwu district or Wuxi National Hi-tech district, was founded in 1992 and underwent administrative changes in 1995, 2002 and 2005.
