To promote the construction of wireless and all-optical network (AON) cities; promote tri-network integration of telecommunications, Internet and broadcasting networks; and speed up broadband, Wuxi has accelerated the construction of the country's AON city.

Due to the advanced technology, residents reaped significant benefits thanks to the construction of an intelligent city. They benefited from instant police-calling messages, convenient bus-checking systems and disease-inquiry systems.

Wuxi will set up more than 40,000 public free Wi-Fi access points and collect all kinds of life service information. In addition, to enhance urban transportation management, Wuxi will install a chip in cars that can identify and supervise them. To cater to the daily requirements of residents, the city will promote the construction of intelligent community and education, strengthening social management.

Zhang Keping, director general of the Wuxi municipal information and radio management bureau, and his group investigated China Telecom (Wuxi), China Mobile (Wuxi) and China Unicom (Wuxi) from Jan 8 to 9.

The former Wuxi New District, now known as Wuxi Xinwu district or Wuxi National Hi-tech district, was founded in 1992 and underwent administrative changes in 1995, 2002 and 2005.
