To build the East Silicon Valley, Wuxi focuses on promoting the transformation and upgrading of enterprises by attracting advanced talents.
Wuxi has introduced nine Nobel Prize winners, 11 foreign academicians and 55 intelligent projects, accelerating the city's innovation and transformation.
The parking guidance screen, a research achievement of Scholes, a Nobel Prize winner, in PowerLong Urban Plaza of Wuxi New District, Jiangsu province, applies Internet of Things (IOT) technology and brings convenience to residents.
In addition, the enterprises focus on self-innovative development by increasing investment and serving as one stockholder besides the advisor of the projects, for example, Thomas C. Südhof's research, which does well in curing depression.
Wuxi has led continuously in the China Intelligent City Development Evaluation for three years and has become a "National Intellectual Property Demonstration City" and a "National Further Integration of Industrialization and Informatization Pilot City". Gross R&D expenditure accounts for 2.75 percent of the city's GDP.
The former Wuxi New District, now known as Wuxi Xinwu district or Wuxi National Hi-tech district, was founded in 1992 and underwent administrative changes in 1995, 2002 and 2005.
