Sunan Shuofang International Airport in Wuxi became the first international airport in Jiangsu province to launch the 5G digital indoor system after its introduction by China Mobile Wuxi.

The speed of the network can reach 1.14 Gigabytes per second, around 50 times faster than the current 4G network, according to tests.

Passengers can enjoy 2G, 4G and 5G internet in Wuxi Airport, with the latter expected to play an important role in the airport’s internet of things, automated dispatches, artificial intelligence services and passenger service.

China Mobile Wuxi has spent over one week finishing the 5G upgrades in the airport. Further network coverage and capacity expansion capabilities have been reserved, and the capacity and speed will be improved in the future.

Sunan International Airport Group is devoted to economic and social development in Wuxi, and even the whole southern area of Jiangsu province, taking advantage of its location in the Yangtze River Delta Region.

Wuxi will continue to apply the 5G network in transportation, medicine, scientific research, and tourism to promote smart city construction.
