The China Azalea Garden, a pretty garden in Wuxi's Xihui scenic spot, has been awarded the title of "national base for flower culture" by the China Flower Association.

Built in 1981, the garden is a gene pool for azaleas, the city flower of Wuxi. More than 300 species of azalea are exhibited during the garden's annual China Azalea Exhibition, held in April and May each year.

The garden has also gained fame for its excellence in design. It was awarded the top design award by China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in 1984.
