Wuxi Art Museum, formerly known as the Wuxi Painting and Calligraphy Institute, was established on Dec 7, 1979, and received its current name on June, 2011.

The government-financed museum relocated to No 79, Xianqian West Street in Chong’an district on Sept 25, 2004. The new premises has a floor space of 1,135 square meters.

The museum holds the motto, “inheriting, innovation, harmony and development,” and accommodates exhibitions, research, collections and cultural services. It is open all year round and is free to the public.

The pavilions on the first floor are home to permanent exhibitions, while the second floor provides space for government-themed exhibitions. Classrooms on the fourth floor are open for art forums and art training classes at weekends and during summer and winter holidays.
