According to the SAIC Commercial Vehicle Wuxi Base, the pickup truck project (third phase) had finished product types choosing in early September2014.
As the only pickup truck manufacturing base in SAIC, the made-in-Wuxi pickups will enter the global market within two years. The production line at Wuxi base serves for the production of commercial vehicles, new energy vehicles and pickup trucks.
Automatic industry is the key industry of the Huishan Economic Development Zone. More than 10 billion yuan ($1.61 billion) have been invested in the automobile and the automotive parts industry.
A complete industrial chain has been formed and supported by SAIC Commercial Vehicle, FAW Coach and Sunlong Coach, as well as another 40 famous automotive parts industries, including FAWDE, Weifu Lida and Sabokaco.
It had reached a total output value of six billion yuan in the first half of 2014. The development zone will reach an industrial scale of 50 billion yuan within 5 years, and is expected to become a first-class automobile industry and automotive parts production base in China.
