An ancient water town south of Yangtze River, Jinxi's charm comes from its many cultural relics.

Below are some of the sites that should not be missed.

The water tomb of Concubine Chen

At the center of Wubao Lake rests the tomb of Concubine Chen of Emperor Xiaozong in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279).

Trees and reeds grow around the tomb. No matter how high the water is, the cemetery always appears to be above the water.

Wenchang Pavilion

A Qing-Dynasty (1644-1911) building, the Wenchang Pavilion is the shrine of the god of literature – wenquxing.

The three-storey pavilion overlooks the entire town and the Wubao Lake. Wind bells hanging from the raked eaves chime as gentle breezes flow over.

The inner space houses exhibitions of poems from Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) celebrities - Gao Qi, Shen Zhou, Wen Zhengming and Zhu Zhishan.

Museum of bricks and tiles

The museum of bricks and tiles occupies the four front rows of the Dings' Mansion on the old Shangtang Street. Dings' Mansion was a residential building constructed in the early Qing Dynasty.

Brick and tile works are shown at the museum as evidence of the achievements of Chinese architecture.

The artifacts on display span Chinese history, from the Neolithic Age to contemporary times. The oldest was discovered in a 5,000-year-old Liangzhu culture site in Kunshan.
