Zhouzhuang, a water town in Kunshan, Jiangsu province, will put on China's first large water town performance – "Zhouzhuang in Four Seasons" on April 1.
Premiered in 2007, the show depicts Zhouzhuang through the changing seasons, with spring's "Rainy lane", summer's "Picking lotus seeds", autumn's "Harvest", and winter's "Spring Festival", along with many folk customs to feature its culture more prominently.
This year, the drama will bring together 210 actors and actresses and highlight costumes of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). In addition to the trained performers, a group of local people will be invited to take part, including farmers, fishermen and ordinary people to make the show more interactive and realistic.
