Already a city famous for its surrounding picturesque water towns, Kunshan is still looking to raise its profile by going on a national promotion tour.

In its latest stop in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province and an economic hub of South China, Kunshan highlighted its unique and profound water town culture on Dec 3 with special local delicacies and rousing performances.

Selected scenes from the renowned Kunqu Opera, The Peony Pavilion, were combined with local snacks, like Wansan pork shanks and fu'an cake, to delight audiences. The most sought-after local late autumn delicacy, steamed hairy crabs from Yangcheng Lake, were also sampled at the event.
