New Year Wood-Block Painting
Originating from the block printing in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), Taohuawu New Year wood-painting evolved from embroidered portraits.
The New Year paintings feature colorful themes engraved on woodblocks painted with watercolors to print onto paper.
Taohuawu New Year wood-block painting is one of three famous kinds of wood-engraved New Year paintings in China.
It was included on the first batch of the national intangible cultural heritage list released by the State Council in 2006.
