The 80-day tourism festival will start on July 22 and will run until Oct 12.

A total of 113 activities in four categories — culture, sports, tourism and trade — will be carried out during the event.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and the festival will add special artistic performances and calligraphy, painting and photography exhibitions in celebration of the event.

The sports activities will mainly feature an annual Nadam fair of the Darhan Mumingan Banner and a China-Mongolia-Russia auto rally.

A tourism festival will open in Darhan Mumingan Banner, aimed at boosting tourism in the area. The festival, now in its fourth session, will add sightseeing flights and flower appreciation activities to enhance awareness of environmental protection.

To provide more convenience for the tourists and to spur tourism in Baotou, the city is expected to launch more direct flights linking it with other parts of the autonomous region.
