The starter motors and generators of SEG Automotive Products (China) Co will start to roll out from its Changsha production line as the new factory goes into operation in the city on May 16.

Invested and constructed by the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone, the building of the 54,000-square meter Changsha branch began in February, 2017 and was completed in August the same year.

The new plant is expected to increase production of starters and generators to 15 million sets by the end of 2018, when considered together with the other branch in Changchun, capital of Jilin province.

According to Xu Hongyuan, deputy secretary of Changsha, SEG Automotive's placing its China headquarters and global research and development center in the city will further complete the local automobile industrial chain, improve vehicle manufacturing capability and push forward Changsha into a national intelligent manufacturing center.

The economic zone also experienced a good momentum in attracting investment during the first four months this year, with expected investment totaling 57 billion yuan ($8.93 billion). Those projects cover areas of key automotive parts and components, electronic information and intelligent manufacturing.
