New energy powered public buses account for 88 percent of the buses in operation in Changsha county, according to the county's transport bureau on April 17.

Currently, there are 1,028 buses in service across the county, 904 of which are propelled by new energies. One hundred and seventy-four charging piles have been installed to service such vehicles.

Automotive exhaust emissions constitute one of the major air pollutants. In recent years, Changsha county has been attaching great importance to developing the public transportation system, an active response to the need to reduce exhaust emissions.

So far, a total of 70 energy buses are running on lines X112, X215 and X123. The county plans to adopt electric buses for all new routes in 2018.

More energy-efficient vehicles will be introduced and a service system of public transport will be completed in the region in a bid to win the battle against pollution and make the skies blue again.
