The new bullet train service linking Changsha and Southwest China will be put into operation on Jan 25, significantly reducing the travel time and saving travelers trouble.

Currently, there is no direct high-speed train shuttling between Changsha and Chongqing. Travelers departing from Changsha have to transfer at Wuhan and take another train to reach Chongqing or Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan province.

From Jan 25 when the Chongqing-Guiyang railway will be put into use, the two pairs of G-series trains will operate from Changsha South Railway Station southward to the two cities in Southwest China, according to www.12306.cn, China's railway ticket booking website.

Train number G2161 will depart at 07:58 from Changsha South Railway Station, and reach Chongqing West Railway Station at 13:48 and Chengdu East Railway Station at 15:33.

The other train, G2151 sets off at 10: 50 from Changsha South and reaches Chongqing at 17:00.

The travel time from Central China city of Changsha to Chongqing Municipality will be shortened by almost three hours to less than six hours according to Guangzhou Railway Group on Jan 22.

Passengers will only need approximately seven and a half hours to reach Chengdu from Changsha.

In addition, more D-series high-speed trains are expected to be added along the route between Chengdu and Chongqing to Guiyang, Changsha, Kunming and Guangzhou, which will better connect the Central China region with other parts of China.
