The Changsha government organized a two-day discovery tour for a select group of foreign workers and students from Oct 28 and 29, to help them learn more about the unique culture and landmarks in the city.
A total of 56 foreigners hailing from 24 countries took part in the event, sponsored by the publicity department of Changsha municipal committee of CPC and Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs of Changsha Municipal People's Government.
The group visited local historical sites, innovation incubators, and art museums, gaining a better understanding of the city's history, culture and economic and social development.
"We've personally felt the passion and enthusiasm of Changsha people, and also experienced the comfort and joviality the city offers," said Bonnie Krcmar, from North Carolina in the United States, who has lived in Changsha for more than two years.
"Changsha has perfectly integrated its traditional and modern elements," Bonnie added.
In Tanheli National Archaeological Park, where more than 2,000 bronze age artifacts have been discovered in the past years, the expats got a close-up view of the relics and gained an insight into the mystery bronze age culture in the Western Zhou Dynasty (c. 11th century-771 BC).
"Previously, my impression of Hunan province is always connected with Chairman Mao," said Liann Downers, a young man from Manchester. "The two-day tour in Changsha is truly an eye-opener."Changsha is an amazing place, abundant with profound culture. I would like to share its beauties with my friends," Liann said whilst snapping away with his camera.
