Changsha will exhibit its history and culture to the public for free at Changsha Museum on May 18, International Museum Day.
It forms part of a series of events as the "2017 Culture City of East Asia". The exhibition will be the first of its kind to showcase the general history of the Hunan province capital.
Changsha government has curated the exhibition for 10 years. There are more than 1,250 cultural relics unearthed in Changsha and 2,400 pictures in an exhibition area covering more than 5,000 square meters.
The exhibition tells the story of Changsha, from the first record of humans 200,000 years ago to the revolutionary contributions made by Changsha-born figures in modern history.
Cultural relics such as bamboo slips and weapons inscribed with the Chinese characters of Changsha will be on display to the public for the first time.

"The bronze weapons might be the proof that Changsha was a strategic military post or a weapon manufacturing center in the Warring States period (475-221BC)," said Dong Yuancheng, an official of Changsha Museum.
The museum has also set up an interactive room for visitors to touch models of the cultural relics discovered in Changsha.
Changsha seeks to revive porcelain production
In recent years, the local government has sought to revive the region's long tradition in porcelain making and boost local industry with the cultural influence of ancient Tongguan kilns, which have a history of 1,200 years.
