Kaihui village among top 100 most beautiful villages in China

Kaihui village in Changsha county, Hunan province, was recently listed among the top 100 most beautiful villages in China by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Kaihui village is the first in Changsha county to earn the title, which marks the great achievements the village has made in improving its landscaping and living environment.

The award ceremony was held in Beijing on April 9. In addition to unveiling the top 100 list, officials discussed reform and development in rural areas.
Kaihui village has been rewarding villagers who improve the appearance of their residences and yards since 2014.
Villagers are satisfied with the policy. "It benefits all of us to tidy up our houses, not to mention the additional rewards," said one villager.

Today in Kaihui village the rural houses are arranged in a tidy order and every household has a green space and garden in its yard.
In addition, the village is making efforts to promote local tourism. The government has invested in repairing the roads, collecting and treating waste, and building public toilets for visitors.
"We received more than 1.8 million visitors last year after the environment was improved," said an official.
The village is also planning to build a temple and a youth training base to attract more visitors, helping to increase local incomes.
Changsha seeks to revive porcelain production
In recent years, the local government has sought to revive the region's long tradition in porcelain making and boost local industry with the cultural influence of ancient Tongguan kilns, which have a history of 1,200 years.
