Huaqiao held a tree-planting activity on Haixiang Road in the Cross-Straits Commerce and Trade Cooperation Zone on March 8 to welcome the upcoming Tree-Planting Day.

Nearly 150 participants planted more than 500 trees, including citron, hackberry, goldenrain and flowering crabapple varieties. In 2013, Huaqiao will start construction of a national ecological park, a national wetland park, and a series of green landscapes to develop 80,000 square meters of green area.

The activity, which is held every year in Huaqiao, has increased the green coverage ratio in the region and helped publicize environmental awareness in the community.
