The second phase of the construction will kick off at the end of this year; the third phase plan is yet to be released.

The Taiwanese Commodity Trade Exhibition Center, one of the most important components of the zone, will be completed in the first half of 2011. Shopping malls along 312 national highways, the customs bonded logistics center and the comprehensive service center will be constructed after 2011.

The cross-Straits (Kunshan) commerce and trade cooperation zone, a new trial for cross-Straits economic cooperation, has gained powerful support from related national, provincial and city government departments in the Chinese mainland.

Effective communication has also been set up between Kunshan and entities from Taiwan, including Taiwan Trade Center, Taiwan Federation of Industries, Taiwan Power Labor Union, and Taiwan Industrial and Commercial Research Commission.

The cross-Straits (Kunshan) commerce and trade cooperation zone, covering 3.65 sq km, aims to develop into the first platform for commodities from Taipei to the mainland.
