The Taiwan research department of Tsinghua University sent a visiting group to Huaqiao International Service Business Park yesterday.

Xia Zhujiu, director of the Taiwan research department of Tsinghua University, spoke highly of Huaqiao’s outstanding geographic position and the exact development plan as a satellite town for modern metropolis. He expressed the eagerness to further explore and communicate on the model and experience of developing service industries.

The problems, the visiting group also explored and researched, included how to link Huaqiao with Shanghai by No.11 light track, how to develop sustainably with the bottleneck of limited land and capital resources and how to run the cross-Straits trade cooperation center.

Shen Huafei, vice director of the managing committee of Huaqiao economic development zone, greeted them a warm welcome and briefed them over Huaqiao’s geographic advantage, communication convenience, policy support and achievements in its construction and image establishment. He said that with the cross-Straits economic and trade relations getting better, direct flights will be open between Taicang Port and Kaohsiung, which will help promote the cross-Straits trade cooperation center at Huaqiao International Service Business Park.

The Taiwan research department of Tsinghua University, established on October 25, 2000, consists of three offices i.e. cross-Straits economic relation research office, cross-Straits industrial cooperation research center and comprehensive research office. The department mainly focuses on Taiwan economy, cross-Straits economic communication and cooperation.
