Guiyang holds seminar on RCEP opportunities

Guiyang's government and the China-ASEAN Business Council held a seminar on Jan 20 to review the opportunities brought by the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The meeting was held in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

About 100 representatives of Guiyang's government, RCEP members' ambassadors to China and business associations attended the seminar, which was held both online and offline.

In 2020, ASEAN's 10 countries, along with China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, signed the RCEP agreement, which will boost regional economic cooperation, combat the impact of the novel coronavirus, and guarantee the sustainable economic development of RCEP members.

Guiyang and Guian New Area wish to accelerate cooperation with RCEP members in commodities, funds, technologies and personnel, to share the opportunities and benefits brought by RCEP.

Xu Ningning, executive president of the China-ASEAN Business Council, said at the meeting that the council is willing to help Guiyang and Guian carry out economic cooperation with ASEAN countries.

Djauhari Oratmangun, Indonesia's ambassador to China, praised Guizhou's growth potential and expressed his desire for Guizhou to enhance cooperation with Indonesia on agriculture, mineral production and service industries.

Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin, Malaysia's ambassador to China, said that Malaysia would expand cooperation with Guiyang and Guian on machinery, medical equipment, aviation, manufacturing and e-commerce.
