Hechi brings TV, radio to residents in remote areas

The city of Hechi managed to achieve a remarkable expansion of local radio and television coverage in 2020, especially in rural areas, adding a total of 70,900 new users, Hechi Daily reported on May 15. The number of new users was highest in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

In 2020, subsidies allocated for the promotion of radio and TV broadcasting in Hechi hit 25.29 million yuan ($3.93 million), ranking second in the region.

Meanwhile, the city met its target of connecting 131 administrative villages to the radio and television network - achieving nearly total coverage, as well as constructing 35 town service stations, 31 town computer rooms, and building 1,643 digital libraries.

Last year, Hechi launched emergency broadcasts on 102 town platforms and 1,243 village-level terminals to publicize COVID-19 pandemic prevention advice. In addition, the city used its broadcasting platforms to promote itself as a destination for healthcare tourism.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
