Hechi's Dahua Yao autonomous county has been included on the draft list of areas set to receive support from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development following its renovation work on rural dilapidated houses in 2020, Hechi Daily reported on March 16.

Dahua was the only county in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to make the list.

Dahua is a karst landform area and 90.1 percent of the county is covered by rocky mountains. It is one of the four counties in Guangxi with extreme poverty. It is also one of the counties in Guangxi which has had the most difficulties in terms of renovating rural dilapidated houses.

By the end of 2020, the county had devoted a total of 297 million yuan ($45.65 million) towards renovating 9,590 dilapidated houses, benefiting 41,200 people - 34,400 of whom were impoverished people in 6,617 households.

Subsidies have been available, especially for extremely poor people and those living in areas with inconvenient transportation. Each household with one to three registered impoverished people can get a subsidy of 35,200 yuan for dilapidated house renovation. A household with more than four registered impoverished people can get an additional subsidy of 4,000 yuan for each additional person.

Starting from mid-April to the end of June 2020, Dahua had torn down 3,008 dilapidated houses and allocated 15.02 million yuan in subsidies.

The county has arranged 126 construction teams, building more than 800 houses for people.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
