Villagers of Baying Village in Hechi's Donglan county gathered together to celebrate the Maguai Festival of the Zhuang ethnic group on March 14, singing folk songs and beating drums to showcase their folk customs.

The festival is mainly popular in the Hongshui River basin in northwest Guangxi and Donglan county is the core area where the festival spreads.

Every year on the second day of the second lunar month, villagers of the Zhuang ethnic group along the Hongshui River put on their traditional clothing to celebrate the festival, praying for a good harvest and prosperity by worshiping frogs as Maguai is the local word for frogs.

The Maguai Festival of the Zhuang ethnic group was listed among the first batch of national intangible heritages in 2006.
