In recent years, Du'an Yao autonomous county in Hechi has implemented the strategy of tourism-driven development, making the cultural tourism industry its strategic pillar industry for targeted poverty alleviation efforts.

The county has now formed six major tourism brands, including subterranean river diving, skylight group sightseeing, wetland tours, rafting, hiking, and wine tasting.

According to statistics, Du'an received a total of 2.31 million domestic tourists and generated 3.05 billion yuan ($453.56 million) in tourism revenue in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 32.34 percent and 30.46 percent respectively. A total of 23,247 impoverished people were lifted out of poverty through tourism, accounting for 11.48 percent of the county’s impoverished population.
