Hechi city held a promotion meeting for local wine at Jinhua Hotel Guangxi on Oct 26 in an effort to sell the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region specialty around the country.

The event was sponsored by the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Hechi Municipal People's Government and undertaken by Hechi Municipal Bureau of Commerce and China Economic Information Service of Xinhua News Agency.

Under the theme of "Auspicious Land of Longevity Permeated with Bouquet", the event showcased the quality of local wine providing samples for attendees to try and promoting online sales. The event's main aim was to gain exposure for local wine brands, set up a sales platform, expand the market and strengthen the communication between wine dealers and media.

Fourteen wine enterprises brought 25 wine brands to the event. Representatives from 24 shopping malls and supermarkets, 14 catering enterprises and eight e-commerce platforms attended. Purchase agreements valued at 30 million yuan ($4.52 million) were achieved between three buyers and local wine enterprises.

In recent years, by making use of its unique climate, green grain and mineral water of high quality, Hechi has cultivated several wine products with local characteristics which have been well received by the customers.

Making wine has grown into a pillar industry of Hechi. Up to now, the city is home to 22 wine production enterprises, with five of them enterprises above designated size, that is, those with an annual revenue above 20 million yuan. In 2016, the wine output in Hechi reached 84,950 tons and the turnover of the top five enterprises was 3.42 billion yuan.
