Yizhou holds shopping festival to boost e-commerce sales

An e-commerce shopping festival got underway in Yizhou district, Hechi on Oct 3, attracting more than 100 food and drink enterprises to tout their wares.

Yizhou is rich in natural resources and agricultural products. Local specialties include Desheng red orchid wine, red pomelos and dried beef. The shopping festival, held in Huaiyuan ancient town, was established to promote online sales of farm produce, opening up new markets for farmers.

Yizhou district has setup e-commerce service centers and an incubator base to boost the emerging sector. So far, 145 village-level e-commerce service stations have been established across the district, providing 230 jobs for rural residents.

Their online trade volume so far exceeds more than 41 million yuan ($6.18 million), 16 million of which is generated by agricultural product sales.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
