A series of events for the New Year were laid out at the Designer Summit held in Zhanjiang on Dec 31, sponsored by the China Institute of Interior Design (CIID).

The summit announced an international design week to be held in 2017.

The design week is set to cover new concepts and achievements across different fields of design, and to follow the Creative & Design Conference which was held in December in shaping Zhanjiang's innovative development.

During the international design week, attendees will take part in various activities and forums to discuss domestic interior design, the design of Zhanjiang, and public housing projects.

The Designer Summit brought together more than 500 top designers from home and abroad, as well as teachers, students, and media representatives. It was also attended by the Power Zhanjiang Design Association, the union for Zhanjiang designers.

The meeting also announced the formation of CIID's 48th specialized committee in Zhanjiang.

CIID, established in 1989, is the only authorized academic institution in the field of interior design in China. It has held design summit sessions in 2016 across China including Foshan, Zhengzhou and Wenzhou.
