A specialized photography exhibition was inaugurated in Zhanjiang on Oct 23, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Long March, as well as to promote the artistic community between the regions of West Guangdong.

The Long March, a 12,500 km military expedition carried out by the Red Army that took place from October 1934 to October 1935, laid a vital foundation for the Communist's victory in the civil war with the Kuomintang regime.

The March left an indelible memory in the minds of all Chinese people, and the Red Army has been highly lauded for their great contribution and sacrifice for the sake of the country's unity, as well as to promote the artistic community between the regions of West Guangdong.

As many as 250 photographs snapped by talented photographers from western Guangdong province are exhibited. Photography on display is representative of the cities of Zhanjian, Maoming, Yangjian, Jiangmen and Yunfu. All of the photos depict scenes of former revolutionary areas and historic sites across the five cities. Current achievements on social construction, folk culture, tourism sectors, agriculture and industry are also represented.
