Maker teams from Shenzhen and Guangdong Ocean University, as well as winners of the 2015 China (Zhanjiang) Marine Science and Technology Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition, featured their innovative works at the Marine Maker Festival in Zhanjiang Olympic Sports Center on Nov 27.

The Festival, which is part of the 2015 China Marine Economy Expo, is aimed at promoting mass entrepreneurship and innovation and providing an exchange platform for makers.

Shenzhen maker teams showcased a number of intelligent equipment including intelligent furniture, intelligent badminton racket, 3D glasses and 3D printing products.

"We see the colleges and universities as the prime source, and focus on entrepreneurial incubator of university students," said a member of "A PARK", one of the maker teams from Shenzhen. Its university incubators mainly provide quality platform for graduates who return to school to start up businesses. The maker team plans to establish 100 maker spaces, develop more than 36,000 makers and serve 6,000 enterprises over the next five years.

Maker teams from Guangdong Ocean University showcased unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control system, intelligent Wi-Fi camera, mobile Wi-Fi ordering system and other personalized service products at the Festival.

Following the marine economy expo, successful marine industry enterprises, teams and makers at the Festival will have the chance to enjoy a number of preferential policies if they settle in the Fenyong New and High-Tech Development Zone and Southern Maritime Valley in Zhanjiang.
