Zhanjiang Port launches new shipping line to ASEAN countries

By Xu Lili Updated: 2015-08-27

A new shipping line that connects Zhanjiang to Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia was launched on Aug 26 to meet the growing demand for trade between China and ASEAN countries.

This is the fifth shipping line from Zhanjiang Port to ASEAN countries, and comes only five weeks after the inauguration of the Zhanjiang-Vietnam-Malaysia shipping line on July 17, in a sign of increasing trade and economic cooperation between China and ASEAN member states.

The operator China Shipping Container Lines Co will put three 1,300 TEU ships on the new shipping line, which will call at ports in Zhanjiang, Gaolan, Yantian, Shekou, Ho Chi Minh City, Laem Chabang, Bangkok and Sihanoukville.

The new shipping line will help cut delivery time for cargos from Zhanjiang to Southeast Asia, save transport costs for customers and create a new platform for Zhanjiang Port.
