The Ancient City of Modocom, a new cultural tourism landmark in Leizhou city, Zhanjiang, opened to the public on Aug 23, attracting thousands of tourists.

Leizhou drums were performed during the opening ceremony, as well as the dragon and lion dances.

The first Modocom Jackfruit Festival was also held for the occasion. As soon as the gate of the ancient city was opened, more than 100 girls walked slowly towards the stage, carrying jackfruits in their hands.

There are many shops along the streets inside the ancient city, which sell local specialties and tourism products.

The Ancient City of Modocom started construction in 2014, with an investment of more than 300 million yuan ($46.95 million). It covers a total construction area of 62,946 square meters.

It reflects the architectural style of the time, with a replica of the Leizhou ancient city wall.
