Precious collections to highlight Zhanjiang cultural fair

By Xu Lili Updated: 2015-04-29

The first Zhanjiang Cultural Industries Fair will be open to visitors from May 1 to 10, aiming to build an important trading platform for cultural products in western Guangdong province.

The cultural fair features a variety of products, including craft gifts, painting and calligraphy works, jewelry, annatto furniture, woodcarving, tourism products and books.

Zhanjiang's famous folk collector Lu Jiayi will display 80 different collections, with a total value of 100 million yuan ($16.12 million), at the fair.

Collecting antiques is Lu's passionate hobby. He built a private museum in Guandu town, covering an area of 2,400 square meters to keep nearly 80,000 pieces in his collections.

Lu said that the collections on exhibition at the cultural fair are all fine works, which he says are legacy of China's five thousand years of history.
