NPC deputies from Zhanjiang arrive in Beijing

Seven NPC representatives from Zhanjiang arrived in Beijing yesterday to attend the annual legislative session, which will open tomorrow.

The Zhanjiang deputies led by Mayor Wang Zhongbing will attend the annual meetings of the National People's Congress lasting 11 days from March 5 to 15, during which the Zhanjiang deputies will raise many proposals concerning people’s livelihood and Zhanjiang’s economic development.

The annual session of the NPC, China’s top legislature, will gather about 3,000 deputies from all over the country to discuss major economic and social issues such as GDP growth, environment protection and measures to push reforms forward.

The NPC representatives from Zhanjiang did much research to prepare for the proposals they are to raise during the session, including protecting drinking water sources, improving medical disputes mediation mechanism, implementing supporting policies for the development of small and micro businesses, constructing a highway between Yulin and Zhanjiang, as well as transforming and expanding the 300,000 ton-grade navigational channel in Zhanjiang Port.

The deputies said the annual session of the NPC was a big event of great significance for all Chinese people, and that they were keenly aware of the important responsibility that they shouldered. They said that they will put forward practicable policy proposals to best represent the public’s interest.
